Narrative
Two Harkonnen sisters battle forces that threaten the future of humanity and found a legendary sect that would become known as the Bene Gesserit. Whether they are exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are the stuff of science fiction. This series uses material from the Great Schools of Dune trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The prequel to the original Dune tells how the Brotherhood of Rossak turned into Bene Gesserit.
The story was very free, and the dialogues did not deserve dune
In all three books, the development of the Brotherhood, Mentats, Navigators and Doctor Suk is interwoven. It is mentioned in the film “Insane Cartoon Lineup: The New Normal” (2020) by AniMat. I don’t want to criticize only the first series of the TV show, but this one was just average in every way. The acting was below average, with the exception of some of the more famous actors such as Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and possibly Travis Fimmel. The rest of the actors looked like they had just graduated from the film academy or something.
I like slow dramas that take forever because I know the result is worth it
But it was not just slow, a lot of things happened, but it was just boring, I don’t know how else to say. The soundtrack that played in the movies was a little stolen here, some familiar sounds appeared here and there, but the timing was bad. Like, I listened to a lot of music here, which did not have any effect. I remembered how long in the movies people just talked, and then bam, Hans Zimmer does his magic, and I was so excited. But I know that he did not participate in any sound here, and I don’t even need to check it.
Food for thought
I’m not sure if Denis Villeneuve participated in this production, I hope not. My question is, did he appreciate it? Will such a regular TV show after two epic films affect the long-awaited third film? The reason I’m interested is because The Penguin was so good that it made me appreciate Batman even more than I did after watching it, and I can’t wait for the second movie. So how will Dune: The Prophecy affect the third film, if at all?
