After two decades as one of the stage’s most beloved and enduring musicals, Wicked makes its long-awaited journey to the big screen this holiday season as a spectacular, generation-defining two-part cinematic event. The Wicked Witch’s name, Elphaba, was coined by L. Frank Baum, the original author of The Wizard of Oz, using the phonetic pronunciation of the initials L-F-B, which became Elphaba. Glinda: Don’t be afraid. Elphaba: I’m not afraid. The wizard is what I should be afraid of. The Universal Pictures logo has a globe in pink (representing Glinda) and the company name in green (representing Elphaba). The background of the galactic nebula is gray-black in color.
